Bilingual Occupational Safety Course

Bilingual Occupational Safety Course

Welcome to the Bilingual Occupational Safety Course, a training program designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to perform work activities in a safe, responsible, and preventive manner.

Occupational safety is a fundamental aspect of every workplace, as it helps identify hazards, prevent accidents, and implement appropriate control measures to protect the health, safety, and well-being of workers. In this context, this course provides essential knowledge and practical tools to help participants recognize workplace hazards and respond appropriately to different situations, while becoming familiar with basic occupational safety terminology in English.

Throughout the course, four fundamental areas of occupational safety will be addressed.

Module 1: Fire Extinguisher Safety introduces the basic principles of fire, fire classifications, different types of fire extinguishers, visual inspection, the PASS method, and the basic criteria for determining when it is appropriate to attempt an initial response and when an alarm and evacuation should be initiated.

Module 2: Working at Heights focuses on identifying fall hazards and applying preventive controls and safe work procedures. Participants will learn about fall protection systems, harnesses, connectors, anchors, lifelines, pre-use inspections, post-fall suspension, and emergency procedures.

Module 3: PPE Use and Care focuses on the correct selection, use, inspection, cleaning, storage, maintenance, and replacement of Personal Protective Equipment according to the hazards associated with each task. The module also emphasizes the importance of proper fit, compatibility, limitations, and reporting defective equipment.

Finally, Module 4: UV Exposure addresses the risks associated with exposure to solar ultraviolet radiation during work activities. Participants will learn about acute and long-term effects on the skin and eyes, the UV Index, exposure factors, collective and personal protection measures, appropriate clothing, eye protection, sunscreen, hydration, self-care, and warning signs.

Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on developing a strong safety and prevention culture, based on self-care, individual and collective responsibility, hazard identification, and compliance with established safety procedures. Participants will also learn the importance of recognizing their own limits when responding to hazardous situations and understanding when it is necessary to alert others, request assistance, or evacuate.

We encourage you to carefully review each module and relate the information to situations that may occur in your own workplace. Remember that prevention begins with knowledge and that safe behavior can make an important contribution to preventing accidents and protecting both yourself and those around you.

By the end of this training, participants are expected to be able to recognize basic workplace hazards, apply appropriate preventive measures, and correctly use the safety equipment and procedures addressed throughout the course.

Welcome to the Bilingual Occupational Safety Course, and we encourage you to actively participate in this learning experience!
